Sri Lanka defeated India by six wickets in their Asia Cup Super 4 clash in Dubai on Tuesday.
Chasing a victory target of 174, Sri Lanka won the game with one ball to spare.
Openers Pathum Nissanka (52 off 37 balls) and Kusal Mendis (57 off 37) gave them the early momentum with a 97-run partnership.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa (25 off 17) and captain Dasun Shanaka (33 off 18) then took them through the finish line with an unbeaten fifth-wicket partnership of 64 runs.
After losing the toss and sent to bat, India had earlier posted 173 for 8 on the board, thanks to skipper Rohit Sharma's 72-run knock off 41 balls.
Dilshan Madushanka claimed three wickets (3-24), while Chamika Karunaratne (2-24) and Dasun Shanaka (2-26) claimed two wickets apiece.
The defeat has dealt a heavy blow to India's chances of advancing to the final.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have one foot in the final after registering two consecutive victories in the Super 4 stage.
