Mason Mount takes on iconic No.7 jersey at Manchester United

Manchester United has announced that their new signing, Mason Mount, will wear the coveted no.7 jersey as Erik ten Hag got his first new signing of the summer transfer window.

Mount, who completed a remarkable £60 million transfer from Chelsea on Wednesday, becomes the first player to don the legendary squad number since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from the club in November of last year.

The prestigious no.7 shirt holds significant historical value within the ranks of Manchester United, having been adorned by a host of club legends throughout the years. Renowned football icons such as David Beckham, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and George Best have all graced the pitch, delivering spectacular performances for the Red Devils with the prestigious no.7 emblazoned on their backs.

The announcement confirming Mount as the next recipient of the hallowed no.7 jersey was made by Manchester United in a video shared on the club's social media accounts. The video captured the 24-year-old midfielder proudly donning his new home jersey, symbolising the beginning of a promising new chapter in his career.

Throughout his first-team career at Chelsea, Mount had been assigned squad number 19. However, with his transfer to Manchester United, he now embraces the iconic no.7 shirt, signifying a new level of responsibility and expectation for the talented midfielder.

Before his time at Chelsea, Mount showcased his prodigious talent during loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County. During those periods, he adorned the no.8 jersey, leaving an indelible mark on the teams he represented.
