Angelique Kerber has crashed out of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a last-16 defeat to Hsieh Su-wei.

After winning the first set 7-5, the Wimbledon champion went down 6-4 in the second before losing the decider to love.

Another one of the current Grand Slam champions is through however, as French Open winner Simona Halep secured a 6-3, 7-5 win over Lesia Tsurenko.

The former world number one is joined in the last-eight by two-time Grand Slam winner Petra Kvitová, who overcame Jennifer Brady 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.

Kvitová will now face 20-year-old Viktória Kužmová, who beat Sofia Kenin in three sets.
