The heavyweight rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will take place on December 21 in Saudi Arabia, an official has confirmed.

The two will meet again following their blockbuster clash in May, which saw Usyk unify the heavyweight division with a points victory over Fury.

Saudi official Turki Alalshikh posted the announcement on social media platform X, saying: "The rematch between the Undisputed Champion Oleksandr Usyk and the Champion Tyson Fury is now scheduled on the 21 of December 2024 during Riyadh Season...The world will watch another historical fight again...Our commitment to boxing fans continues...We hope you enjoy it."

Prior to the announcement, it was expected that the rematch would be held in October.

The Ukrainian's victory in Riyadh on May 18 saw him crowned the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

The 37-year-old has won all of his 22 professional fights. The loss was the first of Fury's career.

It's unlikely the rematch will be for all four titles as the IBF are reportedly planning on stripping Usyk as he will not be facing its mandatory challenger next.

The champion has requested an exception to keep hold of the title to ensure all are on the line in the rematch.
