Fitzpatrick wins first major golf title at the US Open

England's Matt Fitzpatrick has won his first major golf title after a one-shot victory at the US Open.

The Englishman finished on 6-under par to edge out America’s Will Zalatoris on the final hole.

"It's what you grow up dreaming of," said Fitzpatrick. "It's something I've worked so hard for for such a long time. I've got to give myself credit, I had so much patience."

World number one Scottie Scheffler tied for second.

Rory McIlroy ended joint fifth on 2-under.
