Chennai Super Kings won a record-equalling fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title, beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final in Ahmedabad.

Chasing a revised target of 171 in 15 overs after rain interrupted play at the start of the second innings, MS Dhoni's men won the match off the last ball.

Ravindra Jadeja (15 not out) completed the task by striking a six and a four off Mohit Sharma's last two deliveries.

Earlier, Sai Sudharsan's 96-run knock helped the Titans finish on 214-4 after 20 overs of play.

The defending champions got off to a flying start after being asked to bat first.

Shubman Gill's 39 from 20 and Wriddhiman Saha's 54 at a strike rate of 138 set the tone for the Titans to post a huge total.

But rain intervened just as Chennai started their run chase, and the target was later revised under the D/L method.

Chennai's opening pair of Devon Conway (47) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (26) got the team off to a solid start but just when it looked easy for CSK, Noor Ahmed picked up two wickets in the seventh over to tilt the momentum in the home team's favour.

Shivam Dube (32 not out) held on at one end while some vital cameos from Ajinkya Rahane (27) and Ambati Rayudu (19) brought the chase back on track.

It was eventually left to Jadeja who scored the required 10 runs that were needed from the last two balls.
