Elon Reeve Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa on June 28, 1971. His father, Errol Musk was an engineer and entrepreneur, and his mother Maye was a well-known model and nutritionist. Elon had two younger brothers, Kimbal and Tosca. Elon did well in high school, thanks to his photographic memory and curiosity of reading. His parents divorced during his teen years, and at age 17 Musk left South Africa to go to Canada. Elon got the Canadian passport as his mother was a Canadian citizen.
