In line with the Year of Sustainability, the UAE has announced an open call to recognise entities nationwide that have made significant strides in sustainability efforts.

Organisations have until November 8 to submit their entries through the official UAE Year of Sustainability website.

A panel of experts, including Abdullah Alremethi, Ali Al Shimmari, Habiba Al Marashi, Maitha Al Hameli, and Mariam Al Qubaisi, will evaluate submissions based on criteria such as measurable impact of sustainability initiatives, innovative solutions, community engagement, and alignment with the four focus areas for 2024: responsible consumption, water and energy conservation, planting wisely, and green transportation.

All participating entities will receive the "Plan to Action: Year of Sustainability Seal," which they can display on digital platforms and in their physical locations.

Selected organisations will also be showcased on the Year of Sustainability’s website and social media, promoting collective sustainable action across the UAE.

Additionally, those earning the Seal will be featured on an interactive Plan to Action Map, allowing users to discover environmentally responsible businesses and their green initiatives.

Deputy Project Lead Rauda Al Falasi emphasized the initiative's goal to mobilize efforts toward sustainability, stating, "We aim to inspire a renewed commitment to creating a lasting positive environmental impact."

Ali Al Shimmari, a member of the Experts’ Network, added, “When industry leaders adopt eco-friendly practices, it drives significant progress. This open call encourages organizations to share their sustainability stories, demonstrating how commitment can transform communities.”

The initiative is open to all entities in the government, private, and non-profit sectors, including restaurants, cafes, NGOs, and educational institutions.
