Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Deir Al Balah Municipality in central Gaza to restore and maintain the city’s damaged water networks, pipelines, and wells.
The initiative aims to address the worsening water crisis that has severely impacted residents and displaced communities.
The agreement focuses on repairing critical water infrastructure damaged by ongoing conflict, ensuring a stable water supply to areas hosting large populations of displaced individuals. The partnership also aims to reduce the operational burden on the municipality while addressing urgent water needs in the region.
As part of this initiative, the UAE will provide funding and resources to resume operations of essential water wells and reservoirs, many of which are currently out of service. This support comes at a crucial time, as Gaza faces a deepening water crisis, with limited access to clean water posing significant challenges to public health and sanitation.
The project will prioritise, repairing and reactivating water networks and pipelines, restoring damaged wells and reservoirs to operational capacity and enhancing water accessibility for both local residents and displaced populations.
Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 has been at the forefront of humanitarian efforts in Gaza, previously implementing projects to rehabilitate water networks in northern Gaza, Gaza City, and Khan Younis.
These initiatives have brought much-needed relief to communities struggling with limited water supplies and deteriorating infrastructure.
This partnership highlights the UAE’s commitment to delivering urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza, addressing immediate needs while fostering long-term recovery.
As efforts to repair and restore water systems get underway, this initiative represents a beacon of hope for the residents of Deir Al Balah, demonstrating the power of international cooperation in tackling critical humanitarian challenges.
