The foreign ministers of the UAE and Jordan have condemned the continuing Israeli incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ayman Al Safadi, Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs & Expatriate Affairs, condemned the latest incursion, which was led by an Israeli minister, members of the Knesset and extremists under the protection of Israeli police.
During a phone call, the two ministers denounced the Israeli government’s permission for the so-called 'Flag March' in occupied Jerusalem, the accompanying aggression against Palestinians and imposing restrictions on worshippers’ access to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The two senior diplomats stressed the need for Israel, as the occupying power, to comply with its legal obligations, and to stop the illegitimate and illegal measures that undermine the chances of achieving a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
They affirmed that Al-Aqsa Mosque holds a unique and profound spiritual significance for Muslims, and emphasised the need for Israel to respect the historical and legal status quo of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
