UAE nationals now have to get an electronic travel visa before heading to New Zealand.
It's a new rule drawn up by the South Pacific nation for citizens of 60 countries who are listed on the visa-waiver programme.
Visitors from the US, Canada and the UK are also among those who will be affected by the changes.
The e-visa system called New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) is valid for up to two years and can be used for multiple visits.
Travellers must apply for it at least 72 hours before flying out.
The process costs NZ$9 (AED 20) if applying on the app, and NZ$12 (AED 27) if applying online.
Applicants also need to pay a NZ$35 (AED 80) International Visitor Conservation and Tourism levy.
The New Zealand Embassy in the UAE has clarified that Emirati travellers transiting through Auckland International Airport on their way to another destination will also have to apply for a transit NZeTA.
