Human Rights Council adopts UAE's resolution on Yemen

The UAE signed a resolution on behalf of the Arab Group on “capacity-building for Yemen in the field of human rights” at the conclusion of the 75th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) on Tuesday.

The resolution requests the office of the High Commissioner to provide the necessary support to the government of Yemen to fulfill its commitments in the field of human rights and meet the needs of the Yemeni people in the development and humanitarian fields.

The adopted resolution by the HRC aims to build capacities for the Independent National Committee, to investigate allegations of violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, and to continue its activities to ensure accountability and justice, and undertake necessary reforms.

The resolution also reaffirmed its support for international efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive ceasefire, ending conflict in Yemen, and pursuing political dialogue toward achieving peace. Furthermore, the resolution calls for removing obstacles preventing the delivery of relief and humanitarian aid.

Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations Ambassador Jamal Al Musharakh, emphasised the UAE’s support of all regional and international efforts in finding a political solution in Yemen that achieves the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, development, and stability.
