Dubai Police are reminding the public of the rules and regulations while attending football matches and other sporting events.

The reminder comes as a brand new season of the ADNOC Pro League, the UAE's top-tier football league, kicks off on Friday.

The authority has called on fans to follow the guidelines for crowd management at stadiums, emphasising the importance of adhering to safety and security measures.

As per the federal law, these are the rules that the audience must follow at sporting events:

  • They are prohibited from entering the actual playing field or the designated sports event area without permission.
  • They must not bring or possess any prohibited or hazardous substances, especially fireworks, within the sports facility or the event venue.
  • They must adhere to the regulations regarding the carrying or acquisition of weapons as determined by the Ministry of Interior.
  • They are required to occupy the designated seating areas.

The penalties for violating these rules include a jail term ranging from one to three months and/or a fine ranging between AED 5,000 and AED 30,000.

Meanwhile, those who commit, participate in, incite or attempt to commit acts of violence could be jailed and/ or fined an amount ranging between AED 10,000 and AED 30,000.

"The same penalties apply to those who throw any substances or liquid of any type towards any other fan or towards the area surrounding the playground or the playing field. Likewise, those who utter or write any insulting language or make any insulting gestures or statements of racial nature during the sports event, or exploit the stadium for political purposes, will face similar penalties," Dubai Police said in a statement.
