The Class 12 board exams for students in CBSE curriculum schools have been cancelled this year.

The decision was taken after a key meeting chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with senior officials and cabinet ministers.

It was also decided that the results of class 12 students will be compiled by the CBSE "as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner".

Modi said that the exams have been cancelled in the interest of students.

He stated that COVID-19 has affected the academic calendar and the issue of board exams has been causing anxiety among students, parents and teachers, which must be put to an end.
