flydubai uses passenger planes to move vital cargo

WAM

flydubai has allocated six Next Generation Boeing 737-800 for all-cargo flights to support the movement of essential goods across its network.

Passenger operations in the UAE are temporarily suspended as part of the government’s measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The airline is using both the cargo hold capacity and the cabin of its passenger planes to ship vital goods to a number of destinations, in line with international aviation standards.

flydubai has operated relief flights to countries affected by travel restrictions, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, India, Azerbaijan, Sudan and Montenegro.

Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai said: "We recognise that air cargo has an important role to play in supporting the continuity of the supply chain and the efforts at a government and a private sector level to ensure the movement of essential supplies, especially during these unprecedented times".
