UAE has ‘healthiest’ oceans in the region
The UAE has the healthiest oceans in the region.
That’s according to the latest Ocean Health Index (OHI), which saw the emirates outperform all other Gulf countries while ranking 28th in the world.
The rankings measure the sustainability of oceans around the world in a bid to provide governments more information about the bodies of water they govern.
In total, the UAE scored 77 points out of 100 while the global average of the OHI was 70.
Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said the impressive outcome was the result of the UAE’s commitment to sustaining marine biodiversity and ecosystems.
